Fantasy Football

Of course, in the real world, managers now have to make do with what they’ve been lumbered with until the end of the season. Us lucky FFL folk can still chop and change and after this matchday, I am already drawing up another list of changes. You know it’s been an ineffective round when a Newcastle United defender is your top boy.

Jordan Pickford, 2 points

Thanks for coming Jordan. Two points for just being there. A great start.

Ben Davies, 6 points

Benno plays in these matches and he usually gets a clean sheet. A top bit of work from the Welshman keeping United at arms length.

Jamaal Lascelles, 10 points

If it wasn’t for this bloody keeper, Jamaal would have had a clean sheet to add to his goal and two bonus points. Still, I picked him all those weeks ago because he pops up with a goal every so often.

Cesar Azpilicueta, 1 point

Oh, Cesar. Losing 3-0 at home to Bournemouth? Does it get much worse than that?

Phil Jones, -2 points

Actually, yes it does. Jonesy scored at Wembley! The problem was, he scored for Tottenham at Wembley. And he got booked, though probably not for celebrating.

Luka Milivojevic, 1 point

He treated me to a goal on debut, but Palace need to win more penalties for him to be a regular scorer. Also got booked.

Richarlison, 3 points

He is very much on my “probably need to swap him now” list but he ended up being my top scoring midfielder.

David Silva, 0 points

Managed 38 minutes before getting injured against WBA and got booked. The thing is, if I sell him he will hit form. So what do I do?

Dele Alli, 5 points

I was wrong, Alli was my top scoring midfielder as he got an assist.

Harry Kane, 4 points

A waste of the captain’s armband this week as Kane remains on 99 Premier League goals. Still, he can’t do it every week.

Sergio Aguero, 6 points

Annoyingly, I’d ummed and arred about giving Sergio the armband this week. So, of course, he scored. Typical.

Total: 36 points

Well, I guess we’ve been on a decent run and it had to end eventually. All my arrows are red and I’ve dropped two places in the FMG league. We need to pick ourselves up again for the weekend and I need to see where I can get just a little bit more value. Some of these new signings made on Deadline Day might be worth a gamble.
