Well hello there. I’m in a relatively good Fantasy Football mood this morning which regular followers of this column will be thinking, “eh? What’s going on?”
I shall tell you what’s going on. A top ten spot in our league is so close I can actually feel it.
Jordan Pickford, 3 points
It’s actually quite shameful to concede to West Bromwich Albion in open play but hey, it happens. He’s still the best English keeper in my book.
Ben Davies, 8 points
A Bonus Ben this week with an assist and three bonus points for being a very, very good boy in the rain at St Mary’s. See, you can play for Spurs and not be called Harry and win man-of-the-match.
Cesar Azpilicueta, 6 points
Very soon Cesar might have yet another player in attack to put crosses in for, but this weekend he had to keep it simple and make sure Chelsea kept another clean sheet.
Jamaal Lascelles, 1 point
Jamaal, the fact you came away from the Etihad with a + score suits me fine, well done.
Phil Jones, 9 points
If Jonesy is MOM against Burnley, you know what kinda game it has been. He was very good though and I’ll take another 9 points from him.
Luka Milivojevic, 7 points
Welcome to the team, Luka. I picked you because Ruben Loftus-Cheek is broken and you take penalties in the same team as Wilf Zaha who is very likely to tumble a few more times between now and May. Yet, you have surprised me Luka. You scored against Arsenal in open play, so I like you even more.
Richarlison, 2 points
Bye bye, Marco. What you and Richy had in the opening months was special, but it is time for Javi Gracia to hopefully rejuvenate my young Brazilian for the rest of the season. God knows, he needs it.
David Silva, 2 points
Hey, it was just good to see David playing.
Dele Alli, 2 points
A quiet one for Dele but Benno picked up his points so I am not complaining too much.
Harry Kane, 16 points
The bigger shock isn’t that Kane scored again, it was that he missed a great chance to win it for Spurs. Still, another goal from my captain and 2 bonus points softens the blow that I didn’t give the armband to Sergio.
Sergio Aguero, 17 points
He always scores against Newcastle, I was told. I chose to ignore the “make him captain” advice. Still, a hat-trick and 3 bonus points means I still cashed in a little bit, just not as much as I would have liked.
Total: 73 points
Well, that’s one of my bigger tallies of the season. Heading into the FA Cup weekend, I can be quite happy at jumping up to 13th. Top 10 is 34 points away, so I need a couple of good weeks in the next month to get myself in the mix. Top spot is over 100 away, so not completely impossible…
